Distribution of Nothobranchius fishes

I recently uploaded distribution maps for all species of Nothobranchius in the SPECIES accounts. Here enclosed you will find the distribution map including all species. The map is based on more than 2000 collecting records and reflects the currently known distribution of the genus. The collecting records are organised in a grid of squares of approximately 2500 square kilometres.

I am grateful to everyone who kindly shared collecting records that have been used, in addition to literature resources, museum databases and my own collecting records, when I prepared the map.

While our knowledge about the ranges of the species is not complete, most of the species maps indicate fairly restricted distribution ranges and the combined map of all Nothobranchius herein actually shows how scattered the distribution of the genus is.
