Diagnosis

Nothobranchius kadleci has light blue body colour but that, depending on the extent of the red-brown scale margins, can appear more or less red. Dorsal, anal and caudal fins are red-brown with irregular white dots and lines.

It is distinguished from the similar N. furzeri by: in males - the smaller depths of the dorsal and anal fins;  the presence of red colour on the gill membrane and lips; red pectoral fins; absence of a black marginal band on caudal fin, and a greater amount of red on the caudal and dorsal fins and on the body; in females - a larger preanal distance. (after Reichard, 2010).
